Ecco the Dolphin was probably
the only game worth buying on the Sega CD. It was
an instant classic on the machine. But since
then, nobody has ever heard about Ecco the
Dolphin. The graphics on the Sega CD version was
uncomparable to the early games on the
Playstation. Well, since then developer Appaloosa
kept things quiet about another Ecco game until
now. Appaloosa announced they'll make a sequel to
Ecoo the Dophin on the Dreamcast.
From what I've seen, graphics
will be astrong point in the game again.
Appaloosa created a new 'world builder' program
to make it easier for them to make the rich
environments. The program is codenamed 'Game
World Builder,' and it helped Appaloosa finish
the environments much faster. Appaloosa used that
time to add traps, tricks, and anything what will
keep the gamer busy.
The graphics will run at a
smooth 60 fraems per second. The design of Ecco
is so real, like a real dophin. It looks like
some virtual reality game. The detail on teh
fishes (including Ecco) and the background are
equally detailed. Making it incredibily amazing.
"That one cannout help
but forget that this whole world is justa
videogame. Fore me it went beyond a game: it is a
real place with real living creature. It's like
creating life." producer Gergely Csaszar on
the realistic gameplay. Adding to this he says,
"The Dreamcast hardware and software allow
our designers and developers to create incredible
richness of the natural underwater environment
and nearly realistic smoothness of animation and
behavior for the dolphins and other creatures who
populate this game. Instead of struggling with
the technical limitations of the hardware
platform (which was a typical way of life while
developing for earlier video game platforms) this
time the creative team is trying to do its best
to fully use the strong features built in this
super capable machine."
Appaloosa has kept the classic
things found in the Sega CD version like
charging, songs, doing tricks in mid air, and
Ecco's morphing capabilities. The producer says
Ecco can turn into any of the fishes in the game.
They 've also kept the rich stages with
tremendous amount of detail. This is a very
anticipated game by many of the Ecco the Dolphin,
like myself.
The game is about 70% percent
finish, and is getting closer to the April
release date. This will probably be a very
successful game. There isn't much detail on how
the game play will be. But expect the same
gameplay like in the Sega CD version. With tons
of missions and interaction.
When more details come on the
game, this preview will be updated. |
