We all know that
Electronic Arts makes the best sports
games. It seems they're always one step
ahead of the competition. When EA made
the announcement that they won't develop
any games for the Dreamcast at the moment
it shocked everyone. It put Sega of
America is a tight position. But luckily
they were able to ask the newly acquired
developement team Visual Concepts to make
the sports games. The media put Visual
Concepts in a bad position, wondering if
they can a game equal or better than any
EA game.
So they begain working
on two revolutionary games, NFL 2K and
NBA 2K. There's more, Visual Concepts 15
years in the videogaming market has come
in handy with the developement of these
two games. Visual Concepts was able to
get the official NBA license, up to date
roster, amazing detail in graphics, great
play by play announcers.
When making this game,
they were pressured to make this game
equal to EA's NBA Live 2000. I can tell
that NBA 2K is far better than NBA Live
200 in every way. Graphics are far more
detailed, great play by play announcers,
fun gameplay, its just pure fun overall.
Visual Concepts have taken this game as
far as they can, and it shows.
One of the amazing
this is the reconizable faces of the
players. With just on look at the guy's
face you'll know who it is. The detail is
incredible, Visual Concepst has added
everything from Kobe Bryant's afro,
Shaq's Superman tatoo, Karl Malone's
fading hairline, and Vince Carter's
amazing dunks. Visual Concepts has also
added tons of different dunks, they got
all the amazing dunks from Vince Carter
and Kobe Bryant.
NBA 2K has the same
modes as NFL 2K, with some extra things.
One of my favourite modes was the create
your own team and player. For creating
your own team, you'll be able to pick
your own team name, jersey, stadium, and
make your entire roster. When creating
your own player, you can choose from
speed, weight, skills, shooting and
dunking. Also, pick your own name,
height, wrist band and knee braces.
This is the best
basketball game I ever played, its much
better that EA's NBA Live 2000, and
Acclaim's NBA Jam. This game is equal to
NFL 2K, in detail, and fun factor. This
is a must have game in your library of
Dreamcast games. Incredible dunks, very
good detail and everything else.
