Capcom is a big supporter of Sega, through the Genesis era, to the Saturn days and now to the Dreamcast. Since the fame of Street Fighter, Capcom has become one of the largest developers in the world. Capcom has already released around 10 games for the Dreamcast, and 8 of them have come or are coming to North America. Capcom is to release two very anticipated games for the Dreamcast, Resident Evil: Code Veronica and the first fully online fighting game, Street Fighter Alpha 3. They already at work on another three set of games, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Power Stone 2 and Street Fighter III: World Impact.
Power Stone is probably the most original fighting game since Virtua Fighter for the Genesis. The first ever fully 3D interactive environment. You'll be able to pick up objects from the stages and use them as weapons. For example, in Falcon's stage, you can through chairs or tables at your oppenant.
I'm not really a big fan of 3D fighting, I prefer 2D fighting games. In fact, Virtua Fighter 2 and Soul Calibur are the only 3D fighting games I liked. It might seem stupid if I tell you I would take Eternal Champions or Marvel vs. Capcom over Soul Calibur. But, I find 2D fighting more enterntaining.
There are about 8 characters unlocked characters, but after finishing the arcade mode with each character, you'll be able to get Kraken. Finish the arcade mode with Kraken and you'll be able to get Valgas. Finish the arcade mode with difficulty at level 8, and using Valgas finish arcade mode without using a single continue and you'll get Final Valgas.
But doing all this really got me annoyed. The last three bosses are sort of hard, especially Valgas. I didn't bother to go past finishing the game the 5th time. Playing against the same characters 15 times to get all the codes? It can be very annoying.
Most of the characters have the same moves, until they get the three Power Stones. The big characters like Gaulda or Gunrock just keep trying to squeeze the oppenant. There's only one character who has his own moves, that is Ryoma. He's the only character who uses a weapon through the game, a sword. The other 5 use the same moves, punch, kick, and so on.
I played this game with one player, and I got every annoyed easily. But I have heard its a lot of fun with two player, so even though I gave this game a very bad rating, rent and try 2 player. But do not buy this game, there are far better 3D fighting games. Like Dead or Alive 2, Soul Calibur, and Virtua Fighter 3TB.
