Japanese video game
giant Capcom started the famous Resident
Evil series on PSX, the moved on to N64,
now the Resident Evil series is coming to
the Dreamcast. Unlike Resident Evil 3:
Nemesis, Resident Evil: Code Veronica
will follow the story line, continuing
from RE 2. Capcom has big plans for
Resident Evil: CV (Biohazard: CV in
Japan), there will be a limited amount of
special Resident Evil Dreamcast. The
limited edition will come with a Resident
Evil Dreamcast, DC controller, VMU, and a
copy of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
Resident Evil: Code
Veronica is probably one of the
Dreamcasts most anticipated game. The
game sits right up there with Shenmue
Chapter 1, Nights, Sonic the Hedgehog and
other great games for a Sega system.
Expect stronger sales from Resident Evil:
Code Veronica in Japan unlike Shenmue.
Shenmue sold about 100,000 copies in its
first week, then three weeks later its
selling 11,000 copies a week. The good
thing is a lot of people in Japan know
about all the excitement from the other
RE games and will expect the same with
Code Veronica. Expect sales for Code
Veronica to top 10 in just the month of
release in both Japan and North America.
The graphics on Code
Veronica are equally as impressive as the
gameplay. Both, Claire Redfield and Chris
Redfield will have around 2,500 polygons
in facial animation. Its not really close
Shenmue's facial animation, but I still
consider it very good. If you live in
Europe or Japan, you probably got the
copy of Resident Evil 2 with the Code
Veronica demo. In the intro movie, Claire
gets attacked by a bunch of zombies. She
slowly starts walking backwards in shock,
and suddenly falls. As the zombies attack
her, you could see the shock in her eyes.
Very cool. Also, the whole game is in
realtime, which is even better. It just
keeps getting better, I've heard that
Sega sent in some off their best
developers to help out Capcom keep the
frame rate.
Like RE 2, Code
Veronica will have 2 GD-Roms. One disc
for Claire, the other for Chris. But
unlike RE 2, each character won't play
the same adventure from a different
prepestive. Instead, Chris' adventure
will be totally different from Claire's.
I'm guessing, with Claire, you'll have to
save Chris, then with Chris in the second
disc, you'll have to get out of the
zombie infested area.
Another positive thing
about the game, is the camera anges make
it look like a watch a movie. But you
won't be able to control the camera
angle. I've heard, the game will freak
out anybody if you play it late night
with the lights out. Lets hope, Code
Veronica's camera angles won't screw up
like Blue Stinger.
The camera angles isn't
the only thing that make the game look
like a movie. The storyline ofthe game
makes it sound like some horror movie. It
starts of 3 months after RE 2, Chris
(Claire's brother) is kidnapped by
zombies to someplace and Claire tries to
save her brother. She goes to Europe to
investigate, when one day everything goes
wrong. Claire wakes up one day to find
herself in a prison. She escapes from the
prison somehow, and then game goes on
from there. |
