The announcement of Climax
Graphics' third game Super Runabout for the
Dreamcast never really made much of a bang like
Time Stalkers (Climax Landers) or even Blue
Stinger. In fact, I bet only the hardcore Sega
Dreamcast fans know about this game. Well, just
recently, Super Runabout game got some attention
after Climax released more info on the game.
Super Runabout is a sequel to
PSX game, Runabout (known as Felony 11-79 in
North America and Europe). The game wasn't a big
success in North America or Europe because it was
critized for being too short. But it was a huge
success in Japan. So, why not Runabout 2, instead
of Super Runabout? Climax chose Super Runabout to
mainly because they consider the Dreamcast the
ultimate system.
Super Runabout isn't a racing
game, its more of a action game. The gameplay is
sort of similar to Crazy Taxi and Driver. I'm not
sure how, but people have called this game Crazy
Taxi 2. There isn't much info on this game, but
I'll give you all the info that anyone can find
online. All I know is that you get points for
doing something, then you use the points to
upgrade your car.
The game will have 30 cars,
but their aren't like actual cars. They have this
wierd looking Acura NSX, Mercedes minivan, and
other look alike cars. There will be 4 cars to
drive these cars. You can use these cars to go
anywhere in the course.
The people at Climax took some
pictures of San Francisco, making the background
look realistic. Wanna go sight seeing in San
Francisco, there some famous sight seeing places
like Fisherman's Wharf and Alcatraz. You can
drive right through in a hotel or something, to
get out you can go up the stairs and fly out the
window. Cool, huh?
