When Gran Turismo came
out for Playstation, it was considered
one of the best racing games ever made.
Other developers have tried and failed to
make a game like Gran Turismo. None of
the Need For Speed games, or Test Drive
games came close to competing against
Gran Turismo. One of the reasons GT was
considered better than these other games
were because of the number of cars, the
realistic drivings and the replay
graphics. Sega has recently announced a
racing game called Sega GT, the game they
call the, "Gran Turismo
killer." I compared some movies and
images of Sega GT, and Gran Turismo 2000
for PSX 2. Sega GT looked way more
amazing than GT 2000. This isn't the
first game for the Dreamcast that has
been called the "Gran Turismo
killer." I think we all know about
Bizzare Creations Metropolis Street
Racer. Do you want to know why Sega GT is
going to be the Gran Turismo beater? Just
keep on reading.
Sega GT will come with
lots of modes that will keep you busy for
a long long time. Some of the comfirmed
modes are Championship Mode, Single Race,
Dual Mode, Time Attack, Tuning Mode,
Replay Mode, Factory Mode and there'll be
some more. Championship Mode is probably
the best of them all. You'll be a some
tournaments, the point is to earn money
and upgrade your car as the tournaments
go. Before you could enter the
tournament, you have to do a qualifying
round. Try to get a good time in the
qualifying round so you can get a sponsor
to enter you into the tournament. All the
sponsors are real, and there are tons of
sponsors. There's Pennzoil, Isuzu,
McDonalds, Subaru, Castrol, most of the
other motor oil companies and Japanese
car companies. After getting a sponser,
you'll start from the E-class limit of
1000cc's and you'll try to get to the
SA-class. Time Attack is where you try to
beat th course times, then try to beat
your time. Dual Mode allows you to race
in 2 players. Tuning Mode allows you to
upgrade your car after earning some
money, you can upgrade your car's engine,
changing the tires, suspension, and so
on. Replay Mode allows you to save your
favourite replays on to your VMU and you
probably know what Single Mode is. I'm
not very clear on Factory Mode, it
supposedly allows you to create your own
cars.
Sega GT will have a
VMU game, called .... gulp ....
"Homo Pocket." No offense to
the gay community or anything, but what
the hell was Sega thinking? Homo Pocket?
Anyway, this mode allows you gain money,
and then use it to upgrade your car.
Also, you can download a driver from the
game, and train him to be better.
The people behind this
game are Takeshi Nimura, and Hideshi
Tatsuno who were also part of the team
that helped create Nights, and Giant
Gram. Personally, I haven't heard of
these two people. But probably after the
release of Sega GT, everyone will know
about them.
So far there are 8
manufacturers, well 10 if you consider
Acura and Lexus as seperate company.
There are 130 announced cars, and unlike
Gran Turismo, they don't go by every
year. Expect nearly 200 cars by the
release. Manufacturers like Hyundai,
Mclaren, Ferrari, and Porche were also
were also rumored to add their cars.
